Ubisoft has responded to the fake insider scandal “TheRealInsider”: regrets that the leaks demoralize the team, spoil surprises, and will take appropriate action.
In early September, Ubisoft held an announcement-filled event for the Assassin’s Creed franchise. In addition to the nearby Assassin’s Creed Mirageofficially revealed Assassin’s Creed Infinity and his projects in feudal Japan and medieval Europe.
However, the information on these ads was previously leaked by a certain “TheRealInsider” who, imitating Jason Schreier or Jeff Grubbbut from anonymity, he gained some notoriety on Twitter…
…until a mistake revealed his true identity: he was Dan Allen, a YouTuber who, to win minutes of fame, invented all his “exclusive information”. And what about Assassin’s Creed? An NDA that he himself broke from anonymity. But she catches a liar before she catches a lame man.

Ubisoft takes leaks very seriously and “will take appropriate action”
Ubisoft has sent a statement to Eurogamer where he talks about the impact of leaks, avoiding referring specifically to the Dan Allen case.
“We regularly provide access to information about our games to trusted partners. When that trust is broken, or information is leaked by an individual, not only it is harmful and demoralizing for our teams, it also lessens an exciting announcement and experience for our players“.
“Although we will not comment on any individual case, we do we take these matters seriously, and will deal with them appropriately“.

The effect of leaks on the industry
Ubisoft is one of the companies most affected by leaks. Virtually all of their Assassin’s Creed games have been leaked in one way or another, and also from other sagas like Far Cry 6 or Mario+Rabbids Kingdom Battle.
Regarding the Rabbids game, the leaks of the game week before its announcement in 2017 caused Davide Soliani great sadness, due to the poor reception… which later turned into joy when the response to the official announcement, seeing it in motion , it was excellent. The rest is history.
What effect do leaks have on the industry? This week a former Ubisoft employee blamed the leak of Assassin’s Creed Syndicate in 2014, almost a year before it came out, the change of course from the saga to the RPG. A theory that Jason Schreier denied, quite enraged.
