Naoki Yoshida confirms that the second Final Fantasy XVI trailer was supposed to come out in March, but was delayed due to the war in Ukraine. Yoshi-P made himself record a message beforehand as a condition before he could reveal the trailer.
Final Fantasy XVI closed the last State of Play with a spectacular trailer, confirming its launch on PS5 in summer 2023. Its trailer, full of gigantic summons, battles, and blood (it’s the first PG-rated installment) should have been out much earlier, but was delayed for obvious reasons.
Naoki Yoshidaproducer of Final Fantasy 16, confirmed in an interview to Dengeki Online (via @aitaikimochi) that the trailer was set to be released in marchbut decided to delay the announcement due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, “and the world situation was very unstable.”

“Since the story of Final Fantasy XVI deals with a rather harsh topic, I wondered if releasing the second trailer then would have been something gamers would have really enjoyed. When I brought my concerns to SIE, they were concerned too, and we decided to postpone the announcement.“.
Yoshida clarifies that just because they released the trailer now they don’t think the situation has calmed down. However, in the State of Play Yoshi-P recorded a message that considers a condition before being able to publish such a trailer. “As long as I could say it, I could finally show the trailer“.

“Even though the world is in turmoil, we remain focused on doing what we do best: gaming. If thanks to entertainment we can offer people something they can enjoy, maybe we can bring some happiness in these hard times“.
Recently, we have also learned that Final Fantasy XVI was planned for PS4, but in the end they focused only on the PS5 version, which will arrive in the summer of 2023. On PlayStation 5 it will offer very spectacular graphics and super fast loading times.
