It is then that Hughie is recruited by the mysterious Billy Butcher (Billy Butcher) to help him in his revenge against the superheroes and bring to justice those who go out of line, regardless of the risks that this entails.
And when we say “risks” we mean Patriota (Homelander), the most dangerous superhero on the planet who is gradually becoming more unstablewith Butcher and the boys trying to find a way to stop him for good before things get worse.
However, it looks like things are going to get a lot worse than they already are in the series. At least that is how its creator has dropped it in a recent interview for WGAwho has commented that this is just the beginning for the character played by Antony Starr.
“You could trace the meta-mythology of the series essentially like the slow unraveling of Patriot. So, the writers know, and Antony is a big part of this as well, that eventually, whenever the series climaxes, this guy he’ll go full sociopath, and he needs to be stopped before some kind of apocalyptic event. That’s what we’re building towards.”
This series sounds like me! Nostalgic series that revive now
Although it does not specify what said “apocalyptic event will consist of, Kripke affirmed that they are already beginning to lay the foundations to move in that direction in later seasons of The Boys.
“So the question, when you come back to that as a writer is, what are the railings that keep him from doing that? Who is he, as a person, that doesn’t go off and destroy the world today? What are the things he needs And then how do we slowly take them off, one after another, after another?”
“So, he’s not evolving so much as devolving, I’d say. Right now, he still needs love. He still needs the adoration of the fans and the approval and love of his son,” the writer continued.
“There are all these things that he requires that, if he became a real monster, he wouldn’t have them. So we spent all seasons teaching him that he doesn’t need those things one after another after another. And then once he finally realizes You realize you don’t want anyone’s love or approval, so obviously that’s when the big game starts.”
Season 3 of The Boys is available in the Amazon Prime Video catalog from June 3, 2022, launching a new episode every Friday. In the meantime, we remind you that you can read our spoiler-free review of The Boys season 3 on the web.
