First look at Skull Island, the animated series set in Legendary's Monsterverse

Netflix will take us back to Skull Island with this animated series that will expand the imagination of the Monsterverse.

If you are a fan of gigantic creatures that leave cities like your LEGO collection when the cat has a playful day, you are surely a fan of Legendary Pictures Monsterverse.

Started in 2014 with the umpteenth film remake of Godzilla, the Monsterverse has explored the origins of the King of the Kaiju and another big man: King Kong, regent of Skull Island.

The latest installment of the Monsterverse: Godzilla vs Kong, saw how these two giants resolved differences while having an affable chat about Schopenhauer… Oh, and they left ships and cities like when you don’t feel like doing the laundry.

Among the future projects of the Monsterverso is Skull Islandthe animated series that will return us to Skull Island to enjoy the places ruled by King Kong.

During Geeked week, Netflix has given a first look at Skull Island, with two unfortunate castaways in the middle of a King Kong footprint marked in the sand.

Within the timeline of the Monsterverse, we don’t expect Skull Island’s story to take place after the events of Godzilla vs Kong, as the titanic ape is no longer in his original home.

However, it is entirely possible that the series takes place after the events of the first Kong movie, set in the 1970s.

Be that as it may, Skull Island is challenging enough without its most famous monster. The “idyllic and paradisiacal” island is characterized by offering you the large menu without having to pay €1 more. Everything is big there, including the creatures that dwell in its jungles.

Skull Island does not have, for now, a release date in Netflix fixed. We may see its episodes sometime in 2023, if not early this year.
