The New Zealand actor played the ruthless lawman in 2012, but it is not known if he will return to protect Mega-City from criminals.
Karl Urban enjoys a well-deserved fame for his participation in numerous high-profile films and franchises.
We have seen the actor in sagas such as The Lord of the Rings, the “reboot” of Star Trek or the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Also, of course, we have him spreading love in The Boys, the Amazon Prime Video series.
A role that is not usually mentioned so often, is that of Dredd. In 2012, Karl Urban stepped into the shoes of the futuristic law enforcement officer created by John Wagner and Carlos Ezquerra. Peter Travis was in charge of directing the film, which had a script by alex garland (Devs).
Although Dredd became a cult phenomenon and a critical success, its box office performance was less than promising.
This put its sequel chances in limbo, where they still are after a decade. However, a television series, titled Mega City OneYes, it got the green light.
There have been rumors of talks between Karl Urban and the show’s production company for the New Zealand actor to reprise his role. However, it seems that nothing is clear yet.

The actor has been very evasive in his response, although he has confirmed that, whatever happens, he looks forward to the series.
“Regardless of whether I’m involved or not, I think it’s a wonderful property. John Wagner and his entire team of writers and illustrators have created so many fantastic stories that I personally, as a Dredd fan, would love to see. I can’t wait to see what they do“.
Mega-City One has been in development for some time, but not many details about the project have emerged. Judge Dredd’s megacities are the redoubts where humanity huddles, after the Earth outside is basically inhospitable.
