A video and the first details of Assassin’s Creed Nexus, the game in the saga in Virtual Reality that will reunite us with Ezio, Kassandra and Connor in linear missions with all the essence of the saga, are filtered.

Part of the future of Assassin’s Creed will be seen in Virtual Reality. The Assassin’s Creed and Splinter Cell VR games were announced in 2020 exclusively for Oculus Quest (now called Meta Quest) and new details have been leaked and even a video of what it will be like (and it’s going to delight fans).

Assassin’s Creed Nexus (that will be its title) it will not be a 90 hour open world game, no. According to leaks from Tom Henderson on exuter and the user Echiketto in Redditit will be a linear game, with 16 independent missions.

The missions will be set in different historical periods, and here comes the interesting part: they will have characters already known from the saga: Ezio, Kassandra, Connor and Haytham they will be playable.

This makes Assassin’s Creed Nexus set a precedent, on a much smaller scale, for the future Assassin’s Creed Infinity, the live service platform that would include different historical eras.

The Reddit user was able to record some gameplay footage, though only the menu and level selection.

How will Assassin’s Creed Nexus be played? According to insiders, the traditional movements of all the games in the saga (kills, leaps of faith, stealth, parkour) will be represented in the game, which will allow you to play by moving your character with the stick or teleport.

This is something common in Virtual Reality games, but here it has had to work to avoid breaking stealth: if you teleport right behind an enemy, you will make noise that will alert himso you will have to teleport a certain distance from him and slowly approach him to stab him (with an arm movement that will always be lethal if it is done stealthily).

Sword combat will be based on “timing”: stay on guard and wait for him to drop his guard to attack, and parkour works by pressing a button and walking towards walls.

Regarding the development of the game, all 16 missions are linear, no open world or side quests. But yes they will be broad scenarios, in which it is possible to do backtrackingand that encourage replayability with hidden chests with rewards.

Assassin’s Creed Nexus has no release date (no official announcement beyond the September 2020 release), but according to Henderson sources he hopes that out in the next 12 months.
