Although the main composer of the series has been Natalie Holt, the veteran musician has also participated.
There is barely a month left for the new live-action Star Wars series to premiere on Disney +, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and we can see Ewan McGregor again in the skin of this veteran Jedi so important in the franchise. But the actor is not the only one who has returned to the space saga, as the legendary composer John Williams has also done so, at his own request.
This has been revealed by the composer of the Obi-Wan Kenobi soundtrack, Natalie Holt, in an interview with Vanity Fair in which she has told how Williams contacted her through Kathleen Kennedy, President of Lucasfilm, to ask him to write a theme for the character of Ewan McGregor.
Obi-Wan Kenobi: everything we know about the Disney + series
“Obi-Wan is a legendary character that John couldn’t write a theme for because he dies too soon in A New Hope,” explains Holt, who clearly remembers the composer’s words to him: “I want to write a song for Benny”to which the musician replied: “Who can say no?”.
The theme composed by Williams fits perfectly with the tone of this new Star Wars series, as is “reflective” and “melancholic but at the same time there is a glimmer of hope in him”, Holt herself has explained that she has assured that to compose the Obi-Wan Kenobi soundtrack she has been inspired by the many compositions that Williams has made for the saga over the years.
Holt has had the honor of being the first woman to compose a soundtrack for a Star Wars product.but this has not been his first job, since previously he has also worked on the music for the Loki series, also from Disney +, and has been in charge of composing that for the new Batgirl movie that will soon arrive on HBO Max.
The Obi-Wan Kenobi series premieres May 27 on Disney + and will mark the return of Ewan McGregor as well as Hayden Christensen and Joel Edgerton to the Star Wars universe.
