The capture taken by Joe Meizies wins the virtual photography art prize at the London Games Festival. The Red Dead Redemption 2 image was displayed in Trafalgar Square.
Video games are an indisputable part of our culture. And of course, they also represent an important part of global digital art. Any of us can promote the art of virtual photography on our consoles or PCs.
Nowadays it is very common that video games include photo mode. This allows us to take the best snapshots, using image filters and other in-game editing tools.
In fact, the art of virtual photography represented one of the prizes of the London Games Festival, in collaboration with NVIDIA Studio and The Fourth Focus. Y we already know the winner…
The festival jury had no doubts when selecting the winner. It was Joe Meiziesafter taking a beautiful photo in Red Dead Redemption 2, Rockstar’s masterpiece available on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
Meizies photo was selected for the award for best digital art, for later to be exhibited in Trafalgar Square. And watch out, because his competitors did not make it easy for him. You can see the photo in question below.
This shot shows the silhouette of Arthur Morgan next to a rock formation, at sunset, on the back of his horse. The composition of the photo is absolutely spectacular.
”The challenge celebrates the new artistic medium of virtual photography where creators can bring the design of video games and virtual worlds to life. QWe’d like to recognize these trailblazers from underrepresented backgrounds and tell their stories”.
The event featured other great photographs, taken from titles like Control, Cyberpunk 2077, Ghost of Tsushima, Horizon Forbidden West or Ghostwire Tokyo. Here you can access a Google Drive folder with all the photos.
