It has been 11 years since the premiere of Insidious, one of the most popular horror films in the history of cinema, and James Wan wanted to celebrate it through social networks.

On April 1, it was no more and no less than 11 years since Insidious was released in theaters, an independent film directed by james wan which soon became one of the best horror movies.

Starring, among others, Rose Byrne, Patrick Wilson and Ty Simpkins, the insidious movie follows the paranormal phenomena that begin to happen in the home of a married couple when their young son suffers an accident and falls into a coma.

To commemorate the insidious anniversaryJames Wan shared a post on his Instagram account explaining various details of the film.

In his post, Wan comments that he wanted to get away from Saw’s death traps and focus more on astral projection and dimensional travel, so he and his writer/actor Leigh Whannell they decided to make their own version of a low-budget ghost story so they could have creative control of the project.

“Did you know that the original title of the project was going to be The Further?”, the filmmaker also shared on his Instagram, where he adds that the word “Insidious” sounded much cooler for the title of a horror movie about the ghostly possession of an entity from another dimension, to which the co-writer agreed.

Wan continues his post by saying how lucky he was to have the cast and crew of Insidious that he had for such a low budget movie.

As detailed, this iconic horror film was shot in just 24 days and edited on his home computer using Final Cut Prowhich made the director feel like he was back in his days as a film student, as there were wires all over the house during filming.

After four films, the Insidious saga will be back with a fifth film, this time starring and directed by Patrick Wilson, whose plot will be set ten years after the events of the last installment.
