The Star Wars actor wanted to remember who his teacher was both on and off screen on the day he would have turned 108.

There are dates that no matter how many years go by are difficult to forget and for Mark Hamill, that special day is none other than the birthday of the late actor Alec Guinnesswith whom he shared the screen in Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, and whom he wanted to remember with a nice message on the day he would have turned 108 years old.

“Born April 2, 1914, Alec Guinness is one of the best and most versatile actors of all time.. In addition he was also kind, caring, witty, as well as kind and unpretentious. He was everything I wanted him to be…and much, much more. Forever grateful for our friendship,” Hamilla wrote on his Twitter account.

Alec Guinness passed away in February 2000 after years of battling prostate cancer. at 88 years of age, with a career full of successes, including his Oscar for his role in the unforgettable film The Bridge on the River Kwait. For his role in Star Wars he also got a nomination although he did not take the statuette.

The Obi-Wan series premieres on May 27 on Disney + following in the wake of the original series that Lucasfilm is creating for the platform such as The Mandalorian or The Book of Boba Fett.
