The reaction of the cast of Cowboy Bebop to the cancellation of the Netflix series

This is how part of the cast of Cowboy Bebop reacted upon hearing the news about its cancellation by Netflix.

On November 19 it landed in the catalog of Netflix Cowboy Bebop, original series of the platform that adapts the popular anime of Shinichirô Watanabe, joining other adaptations such as Death Note, Bleach or FullMetal Alchemist.

But the anime series adaptations tend to err on the side of being too loose, and in the case of cowboy bebop series It has not been an exception, as we explained in our review of Cowboy Bebop.

That is why the news that Netflix has decided to cancel the Cowboy Bebop adaptation less than a month after its premiere has not caught much by surprise this morning, leaving the plot open with only one season (come on, what’s next? being the typical day on Netflix).

However, the reaction from the team of the series has not been long in coming and they have shown their regret through social networks, having on the one hand the writer Javier Grillo-Marxuach showing his disappointment at the Cowboy Bebop cancellation.

“I really loved working on this. It came from a real and pure place of respect and caring. I wish we could do what we planned for a second season, but you know what they say, the men plan, God laughs. See ya, cowboy from space…”.

For its part, John cho, protagonist of the series who played Spike spiegel, was more terse in his reaction, putting a gif of the Friends series in the scene in which Richard says “I’m fine.”

Cowboy Bebop joins a long list of canceled Netflix series that the platform has been running over the last few years with more or less justification.
