Garfield wakes up from nap to fight on Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl as a DLC character

Garfield will be the first DLC character for Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl, the Smash Bros. fighting game featuring SpongeBob SquarePants and Ninja Turtles.

Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl, the Super Smash Bros.-style fighting game that came out last October, features a character roster full of characters from the series your childhood: the Ninja Turtles, the Rugrats, SpongeBob, The Legend of Korra, Hey Arnold or the Thornberrys.

Now, as DLC, they have announced another well-known character, the cat Garfield, which has appeared in movies, comics, and television series. Garfield will use his love of food in the game, and in the trailer we see that in several of his attacks throws cakes and lasagna at his enemies, and also uses his teddy bear, Pooky.

Garfield is the first DLC character in the game and will be released December 9 on PlayStation, Xbox and Steam. The Nintendo Switch version will arrive throughout the month of December, and It’s free.

Developer studio Ludosity confirmed to IGN that there will be two free DLC characters, including Garfield, but there will also be paid DLC characters later on. Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl currently has a score of fighters.

Ludosity CEO Joel Nyström explained that they don’t just choose fighters driven by nostalgia, but characters who present opportunities to create unique movesets.

The process includes a brainstorming session between all developers, until a team of designers selects and profiles them consistently.

Recently, it was announced that Chris Pratt would be voicing Garfield in a new animated film of the character created by Jim Davis for Sony Pictures, adding to the role he has already recorded of Super Mario in Nintendo’s animated film.
