Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy increased its sales by 400% thanks to the Black Friday discount

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy was one of the big beneficiaries on Black Friday, its sales shot up 400% in the UK thanks to the discount … even if it is a game that is only a month old.

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy It came out on October 26 with great critical acceptance … but not so much by the players. Or at least that didn’t translate into sales.

In the UK, for example, it failed to overtake FIFA 22 in its premiere, and sold 58% less than Marvel’s Avengers a year before. In Spain it did not sneak between october best sellers according to AEVI, and at its launch in Spain it obtained very discreet sales according to Gamereactor.

At Black friday, the thing has been different. According to the sales data of the United Kingdom of the week, which we have since this morning, we see that Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy game has hit a huge jump in sales, going from position 17 to position 5, an increase of 419% since last week.

Although it has only been a month since its launch, the Square Enix and Eidos Montreal game received a significant discount on Black Friday deals, of around 30% or more (it is still possible to find it for about 40 euros instead of your initial 70).

Good news for players who can enjoy this delicious adventure at a very good price, but bittersweet news for Eidos Montreal and Square Enix, who see that their bet does not seem to have stood out and is already cannon fodder for offers.

On SteamDBFor example, we observed that the maximum peak of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy players remained at the gates of the 11,000 simultaneous players. The previous game of Eidos, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, had a peak of 38,000 players at its premiere in 2018 (it sold 4 million copies).

Marvel’s avengers, the previous Marvel and Square Enix game, peaked at 31,000 concurrent players, but the game’s poor reception, which even Square Enix finds disappointing, may have taken its toll on the Guardians of the Galaxy “sister” game.
