The PC version of Monster Hunter Rise will match the Nintendo Switch in content shortly after launch, including all crossovers and post-launch monsters. Today version 3.6.1 has been released on Switch.
Monster Hunter Rise on PC will be one of the first releases of 2022 – this version of the game will be released on January 12, 2022 on Steam. The game was exclusive to the Nintendo Switch for a year (or ten months, actually), but the PC version is almost done, and it will have many technical improvements, such as 4K and better framerate.
At the content level, however, it will be exactly the same game. Well, it will be the same game that Monster Hunter Rise is today, not the one it was when it came out in March 2021.
Capcom, via Steam, has confirmed all post-launch content for Switch that will be available on PC at launch. And it will be the same that is available on Switch today, that is, that of version 3.6.1.
Capcom’s intention is that both versions synchronize at the end of February 2022, so if there are any other updates on Switch, these would be coming somewhat after launch on PC. But remember that the PC and Switch versions of Monter Hunter Rise are not compatible in any way, They neither have crossplay nor cross-saves…
Today the Monster Hunter Rise version 3.6.1 on Nintendo Switch, which among various bug fixes, includes the crossover mission with Sonic the Hedgehog. Previously there were other collaborations, such as Mega Man.
All these crossovers will be available in the launch version of Monster Hunter Rise on PC:
- Monster Hunter Stories 2 Wings of Ruin
- Street fighter
- Mega man 11
- Ghosts ‘n’ Goblins Resurrection
- Sonic the hedgehog
The following monsters will also be released, arriving on Switch after launch via free updates.
- Kushala daora
- Apex Devils
- Apex rathalos
- Crimson Glow Vlastrax
- Apex zinogre
Finally, they confirm that the new ending of the story, which was released on Switch two months after launch, will also be a part of MH Rise on PC.
In short, all the content released in Monster Hunter Rise for updates to date will be on PC, that is, the version 3.6.1. However, if any more update or crossover comes out on Switch, it would come to PC later, because Capcom’s intention is that both games are synced at the end of February 2022.
Sadly, Capcom gave up and there won’t be any kind of crossplay or cross-progression between the Switch and PC versions, and if you buy the PC version, you won’t be able to transfer your save data to Switch – you’d have to start from scratch.
Also, we know that Monster Hunter Rise on PC will use Denuvo anti-piracy technology. And it is that Capcom considers that the PC will become its main platform in the future, greater than any console …
What they have not said anything about is the paid DLC, although at the moment Monster Hunter Rise does not have any relevant paid DLC, beyond gestures or hairstyles for the hunter. That will change in summer 2022, when it comes out Sunbreak, the “gigantic expansion”, which will arrive simultaneously on Switch and PC.
