The Ubisoft team behind Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake has issued a new statement, but this time simply to say that the game is still in development. The last time we heard about the game, it is to learn that it had been pushed back to an undetermined date of 2022.

We want to take a moment to ensure that the development of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is still ongoing, motivated and inspired by your feedback. We will update our progress in the future, and we want to thank everyone for your patience and support.“.

Well now we know that the remake of Prince of Persia, the first game in the series since 2010, is still underway, and has not been canceled.

Such a laconic statement has its explanation: today the Ubisoft financial results for the first half of fiscal year 2021-2022 (between March and September 2021).

In it there is a mention of the game developed in the studies of Indians of Ubisoft Mumbai and Ubisoft Pune. Both Prince of Persia Remake and The Division Heartland (the free to play) will be out next fiscal year, 2022-2023. That is, they will necessarily come out after March 2022.

Technically, the game has not been delayed, since the last date they gave was a vague 2022. But this mention in the financial report would have been worrying, so the team wanted to avoid rumors by remembering that it is still in development.

Prince of Persia Remake: The Sands of Time was originally announced for a release on January 2021, but it was timidly delayed, first March 2021, then the end of 2021, and finally in a distant 2022 … which we hope will be fulfilled.

His presentation was heavily criticized for the quality of its graphics, especially compared to other Ubisoft games like the Assassin’s Creed saga, although its developers claimed that there was no cut.

Hopefully the end result lives up to expectations and encourages Ubisoft to invest more in the series. It is rumored that there is a second Prince of Persia game in development, and that they are even preparing the return of another of its mythical sagas, Splinter Cell.
