Elon Musk y Jeff Bezos: una relación bastante tirante

Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos: a very strained relationship

I think about him conflict between Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos and, inevitably, those soap operas in which millionaires would open their doors to us come to mind. houses mansions not to show us how it is lived when you have a fortune, no, but not so that we could verify that they also have their conflicts, their problems. There is memory, for example, of Angela Channing being expelled from Falcon Crest. In those days I was in love with Melissa Agretti, but hey, that’s another story.

Be that as it may, thanks to those soap operas, we understood that they were people, like us, which helps us understand conflicts with another lens like the one currently facing space billionaires, Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos. A conflict that already has several milestones and that, except for surprises, it still promises us new and interesting assaults, probably even more colorful than those we have already experienced so far.

Although in history there are usually no absolute good and bad, in this case everything points to the fact that Most of the blame should fall on Jeff Bezos’ side, which is the one who seems to have lost the papers, with unjustified attacks on SpaceX and, therefore, on Elon Musk’s space bet. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, I recommend that you take a look at the summary we made a few days ago to the reactions of Blue Origin after losing the tender for the manned mission to the Moon in 2024.

The tender, as we already told you at the time, was won by SpaceX, and since then Elon Musk’s company has become the target at which Jezz Bezos throws practically all his darts. It is true that, in the first instance, it attacked NASA for not having awarded the project to two companies, but since then it has not skimped on attacks on SpaceX and its proposal to reach the Moon with its huge Starship.

But the thing is not there, and it seems that Bezos is already seeking total war against Elon Musk. And it is that SpaceX has recently presented to US regulators two plans for launching new Starlink satellites into orbit, the network access service via satellite. The “problem” is that they are not complementary plans, that is, only plan A or plan B will be executed, but in order to advance the efforts, SpaceX has requested the approval of both, at the expense of seeing which one is finally applied.

I know this may sound erratic, but it has a rationale and is understandable: one plan proposes the use of Starship, while the second, which would act as a backup, would have Falcon9. This tells us that Elon Musk’s company aspires to be able to carry out such launches with Starship, but that since it still does not fully trust in being able to do so, and that it does not want to compromise the pace of deployment of satellites on the network, it reserves the another chance.

Since each plan requires different releases, it makes sense that the company has raised both possibilities, but this has not pleased Amazon, which also has its own satellite internet service plan, Project Kuiper. So much so that it has recently presented, in the US FCC, a request for the plans to be scrapped, so that SpaceX can only present one or the other. A movement in which malicious intent and hostility are evident.

In response to this latest action, Elon Musk has posted a message on Twitter that he deleted shortly after, but which has been graphically recorded:

«It turns out that kisses [sic] He retired to seek a full-time job filing lawsuits against SpaceX«.

It is easy to imagine Bezos quite upset by this message, but the truth is that Elon Musk it does nothing but focus on what appears to be the main motivation of the founder of Amazon and Blue Origin for a while now. And is that instead of losing the contest, Blue Origin should have tackled new projects but, instead, decided to charge against NASA, against SpaceX and against Elon Musk. Will he end up like Don Quixote after his confrontation with the mills?
