It’s been three years since we saw in theaters Tomb Raider, the new cinematic reboot based on the popular video game saga that, in turn, adapts the recent video game trilogy about the beginnings of Lara Croft.

Although it was confirmed that the Tomb Raider movie It would be a new film saga, the Coronavirus pandemic has caused numerous delays in the project with little news about whether Tomb Raider 2 would continue in development or if it would have been canceled.

However, it seems that the project continues. At least this has been confirmed by its protagonist, Alicia vikander, when in an interview for Collider asked about the status of the Tomb Raider 2 movie.

“Yes. Pre-COVID, I would have said yes. And now I think it’s still a yes,” commented the actress. “There is no green light, but the script is in the works. And I think everyone is excited, and I would love to visit Lara again.”

Vikander also pointed out that although the sequel to Tomb Raider was among the plans, its script is something recently done and not something that has been in development for a long time. “It’s very recent. It’s really now that the world is up and running again, and Misha is on board and working on the script right now. So I’m very excited to read something very soon.”

Originally directed by Ben Wheatley and scripted by Amy Jump, both have finally left the project and will be Misha green (Lovecraft Territory, Underground Secrets, Underground) who is in charge of writing and directing the new Tomb Raider movie.

At the moment it is unknown when the movie Tomb Raider 2 will be released in theaters. Do you want to see this new installment?
