In case there weren’t enough doubts when it came to sitting on the couch at night and deciding which streaming service to use today, Paramount also joins the VOD fever and is launching its Paramount + platform. soon, giving the green light to a project more than striking.

Well, as reported Deadline, the new streaming service from Paramount studio, has given the green light to its first original series, which will be a spin-off of the film of Grease from 1978, although it seems it will have less testosterone among its protagonists.

Titled Grease: The Rise of the Pink Ladies, this spin-off series will be set four years earlier of what happened in the original movie starring John Travolta and it will tell the story of four girls, outcast and fed up with high school, who will learn to have fun under their own rules, changing Rydell High School forever.

And although it might seem that this series is going to tell the story of Rizzo and his inseparable friends who appear in the original film, it is not like that, well as reported by Paramount, the characters are going to be completely new although they also show off the characteristic pink jackets of their predecessors.

At the moment it is only known that Grease: The Rise of the Pink Ladies will have 10 episodes yy will be written and produced by Annabel Oakes, responsible for the Netflix Atypical series. They do not have a release date yet.

Like Disney has done, Paramount also plans to exploit its most classic productions through its streaming service, That is why it already has series of some such iconic titles in development as Flashdance, Love Story, and of course, Star Trek.
