The Flash, the movie starring Ezra Miller and directed by Andy Muschietty, is one of the last cartridges known as DC Extended Universe that remain to come before Warner’s course veers again, away from the shared DC universe he wanted to establish Zack snyder. The Scarlet Corridor movie will connect with several alternate realities of the DC Multiverse, including that of Batman from Michael Keaton.
A few days ago, Andy Muschietti himself shared an image of Michael Keaton’s bat-suit in the film, more specifically the logo of the bat that he wears on his chest, with the iconic yellow background.
There are few fans who have pointed out the obvious reference to Watchmen than the image shared by the director. The blood splatter on the logo evokes the image of the now legendary Comedian’s smiley face badge blood splattered comic book Alan Moore, Dave Gibbons and John Higgins.
Does that image imply a connection to Zack Snyder’s Watchmen movie? Of course not, necessarily. However, it could indeed set the tone that we will find ourselves in The Flash. The film will address the events of Flashpoint within the history of Barry Allen. This image, like Dave Gibbons said of the Watchmen’s smiling face at the time, could sum up the essence of the film, with a dark tone, worthy of the reputation that DC Comics has built for decades.
What do you think? Is this a direct nod to Watchmen or is it a happy coincidence?
