Good news for retro lovers: the return of Alex Kidd, one of Sega’s first “pets,” is two days early. Alex Kidd in Miracle World DX, a remake of Master System’s 1986 game, will be released on June 22nd, Tuesday, two days before the announcement. You can play it on all platforms: PC (Steam and Epic Games Store), PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PS5 and Xbox Series X / S, at a price of 19.99 euros.
Merge Games, the publisher of the game, today announced the advancement of its launch along with a new trailer, Greetings from Miracle World, showing the visual transformation of the game locations.
The Spanish study Jankenteam He was the one who approached Sega with his idea of making a remake of Alex Kidd, forgotten for more than 30 years. It will include all the levels from the original game, but also new levels, improved final bosses and extra modes (like Boss Rush in which you relive Rock-Paper-Scissors battles).
The most interesting are their two graphic styles: a modernized one, with much more detail, although still with a retro touch, and the 8-bit original, which we can change between them at any time, also changing the music with new arrangements and other new themes.
You can play emulating the title from 35 years ago (and surely you did if you had Master System 2, as it came pre-installed in them), although the controls have been improved. Do not worry, it will continue to be a very challenging adventure.
Remember that Alex Kidd in Miracle World DX will have editions in physical format, distributed in Spain by Tesura Games. Simple editions will include an instruction manual and keychain, but collectors should look for the one. Signature edition, which includes numerous extras, including a Master System-style cabinet.
