In a few weeks it will arrive an expected JRPG to Xbox, PlayStation and PC. It’s about Scarlet Nexus, the new game from Bandai Namco that will take us to a futuristic world dominated by bloodthirsty aliens … that can only be slaughtered by OSF soldiers, who possess extrasensory and telekinetic powers. Will be next June 25th when the game hits stores.
Scarlet Nexus was one of the games unveiled at Microsoft’s May 2020 event, despite the fact that the title also coming to PS5 and PS4. That is why it has been rumored a possible addition of the game to Xbox Game Pass, something quite feasible since its demo came out first on Xbox Series X | S and Xbox One, as a temporary exclusivity (although for a week).
Jeff grubb, a video game journalist, commented on the XboxEra podcast that Microsoft could have ambitious plans with Scarlet Nexus. It looks like, Bandai Namco’s JRPG would be released from day one on Xbox Game Pass, a move similar to what happened with Outriders, the shooter from Square Enix and People Can Fly, which we learned only a few weeks before the global launch.
”I think it is a launch game on day one on Game Pass, that’s what I heard. The thing about Game Pass first day releases, especially for anything that’s relatively large, is that those announcements are made very, very late” Jeff Grubb explains.
The truth is that Scarlet Nexus has always been a game highly promoted by Microsoft, despite its multiplatform status. It’s no secret that Redmond want to gain ground in Japan, and adding Bandai Namco’s new JRPG to their catalog would certainly be a star move against the competition. Despite this, for the moment it is far from confirmed.
”Scarlet Nexus might be on the lower level, which is like “Microsoft will probably give you quite a bit of money for downloads of this cool anime game that people seem to like, and it’s probably more than you’ll get any other way.”, and you ” We are still going to have sales because we see that these games are sold until the end”
What Grubb is referring to is that Scarlet Nexus is not a AAA, so any help to promote the game will be welcomed by Bandai Namco. Xbox Game Pass offers the opportunity for many players to try a title, and from there decide whether to buy it at the launch price, wait for sales or decide on another game. In case of lesser-known titles, this is perfect.
For the moment it is unknown if this is real or just a rumor, although the VGC medium ensures that it will contact Bandai Namco to corroborate it. Either way, Scarlet Nexus will hit stores June 25, available on Xbox Series X | S, Xbox One, PC, PS5 and PS4… and, who knows, maybe also on Xbox Game Pass.
