In late summer 2019, Matrix fans saw their world rocked when Warner announced that a fourth installment in the franchise was underway and would arrive from the hand of Lana Wachowski, with the participation of Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss. Despite the hype generated by the announcement, the return of Reeves and Moss as Neo and Trinity it opened the door to endless doubts that, to this day, have not yet been resolved.
Matrix Resurrections is coming to theaters now HBO Max the next December 22th, and it will put an end to a lot of those doubts (probably not all because, well, it’s a Matrix movie), especially how Neo and Trinity return from the dead, something the official title seems to allude to.
Talking to the magazine Empire, Keanu Reeves has gone beyond the return of the character himself and has explained what motivated him to return to the franchise, especially after the Matrix Revolutions seemed to close the story of Neo in a forceful way.
Reeves explained that it was precisely the fact that Lana Wachowski was involved in the project that encouraged him to give it a try, and he was completely convinced after reading the “beautiful script” that the director had written together with Aleksandar Hemon and David Mitchell. We still have more than half a year to see what the return of the Matrix to the big screen has in store for us. We will have to follow the white rabbit for more clues in the coming months.
