James Gunn says Guardians of the Galaxy will be the last film in the franchise, at least for him

Last Monday we received the update of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in which the logos and official titles of some of the Marvel films that we will see in the coming years were revealed, including Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 3, the film he will direct James Gunn and that will come to close the trilogy of the original team headed by Star-lord in the MCU, set after the events of Avengers Endgame.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 arrives years late after the brief breakup between James Gunn and Disney A collation of some tweets by the filmmaker from more than ten years ago, which led the House of the Mouse to fire him for several months before rectifying the decision.

Now, James Gunn is ready and available to direct the third Guardians of the Galaxy film, and there are already some fans who, without having seen it, ask if there will be a fourth installment. Through Twitter, James Gunn has responded to one of those fans.

When asked about whether there would be a fourth movie of Guardians of the GalaxyJames Gunn was forthright and confirmed that his plan is for the third movie to be his last, at least for him. Obviously, although direct, the answer is very ambiguous. Gunn doesn’t confirm whether Marvel would go ahead with another director for new installments, nor does he completely close the door on a fourth project, not 100% at least.

What do you think? Will Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 be the last film in the series directed by James Gunn?
