After the catastrophe of the 2000 Dungeons and Dragons movie, the epic RPG franchise has taken its time before considering making the leap to the big screen again. Twenty-one years later, the pieces are back on the board and there is no good saving throw. With a premiere window hovering around 2023, cameras are already filming the remake of Dungeons and Dragons.
Director Jonathan Goldstein (Spider-Man: Homecoming screenwriter) and his co-director, John Francis Daley, They are already at work on the set, as certified by the photo of the clapperboard of the film shared by Goldstein on Twitter.
The new movie of Dungeons and Dragons he hopes to get a great saving throw when he has to face the verdict of the general public and critics, who were relentless almost a quarter of a century ago with the first adventure on the big screen.
To try to ensure the quality of the film, Paramount will feature a star-studded cast including Chris Pine, Michelle Rodríguez, Justice Smith and Regé-Jean Page. Of course, a great cast does not guarantee that a movie will be a success, the industry is sick of seeing examples of it. It remains to be seen if the story that Goldstein and Daley have prepared is worthy of the name of Dungeons and Dragons, or if the disaster of 21 years ago will be repeated.
