The judgment between Epic Games and Apple, which erupted last summer when Epic decided to skip Apple’s commissions on its AppStore in Fortnite, has started today. As a result, numerous confidential documents from both companies (and others like Sony, concerning the controversy over Fortnite’s crossplay in 2018) are leaking.
One of those documents is an extensive presentation of Fortnite, dated in June 2020, which reveals numerous details of the game that could be in development, including a basketball-based bonus mode, and character skins as popular as Samus Aran from Metroid.
Keep in mind, yes, that many of the things that appear in this presentation (including the characters) could have been scrapped since then. Here you can see the complete presentation, uploaded by The Verge.
In the document you can see the designs or announcements of the skins of Lachlan, The Grefg, Lazerbeam and Neymar Jr. before they were announced. And this Fortnite Icon series would include two so far undisclosed skins: LeBron James and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.
Virtual concerts of Ariana Grande and Lady Gaga, in a slide in which J Balvin also appears, who did have a concert, unlike Ariana Grande and Gaga (it is understood that Grande and Gaga would have concerts, but they would not be skins).
They are not the only surprises in this presentation. From slide 56 you can see a series of movie or video game characters that, we understand, were in consideration to have skins. Of those, only Terminator, Sarah Connor, Master Chief and Kratos, from Halo and God of War, have materialized. The others could be on the way and were not revealed … but they could also have been canceled. They might not even have been finally approved, and only suggested in the filing, as far as we know.
In any case, if you want to dream, these are those skins:
- Samus Aran (Metroid)
- Katniss Everdeen (The Hunger Games)
- The Bride
- Batman Looper
- Snake Plissken (from Escape from New York)
- John McClane (from Die Hard)
Likewise, a collaboration with the NBA has been leaked that even includes an extra mode, such as a basketball minigame, defined as “a Fornite version of arcade basketball“, 1v1, 2v2, 3v3 and 4v4.
This would be accompanied by the first Party Royale sporting event, starring Zion Williamson and LeBron James.
The dates of some of the collaborations announced in the presentation, such as Neymar’s skin, they’ve changed (It was expected for the last quarter of 2020, but finally Neymar just left in April 2021). Therefore, it is possible that these skins and the basketball mode will come out later, although it is true that others could have been canceled. We’ll have to wait and see…
