These last days we are seeing how the big studios are readjusting their premiere slates. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, many premieres of 2020 and this beginning of 2021 have been postponed to dates where it is hoped that theaters can function relatively normally, allowing the projection of big-budget films to be profitable. However, saturation is also occurring as these films are being postponed with the films scheduled for release on these dates.
Among other productions, Uncharted has encountered this problem. The release schedule is saturated and the release date of the film starring Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg has been affected by the presence of another blockbuster on its opening weekend.
Thor: Love and Thunder, by Marvel studios, is scheduled to release on February 11, 2022, when Uncharted was scheduled to hit theaters around the world. For this reason, Sony Pictures has slightly modified the date of the film based on the franchise of Naughty dog, setting it in the February 18, 2022, a week later.
Tom Holland will become a young man Nathan drake in the Uncharted movie, which will focus on Drake’s first steps in the world of treasure hunting. Mark Wahlberg will play Victor “Sully” Sullivan, Drake’s mentor. The film plans to serve as a prequel to video games, and will not relate anything we have previously seen while enjoying any of the titles in the Naughty Dog saga.
What do you think of the delay in the release date of Uncharted?
