One of the best games so far this year is It Takes Two, the refreshing cooperative proposal from Hazelight Studios and Josef Fares, the creator of A Way Out. Available from March 26 at PlayStation, Xbox and PC, the creative explains why his game is ” fucked up ”.
Josef fares He is one of the most recognized personalities in the industry, and without a doubt he has an innate talent for video games, as he has shown with It Takes Two (you can read our analysis here). Not an easy game far from it, neither because of its difficulty nor because of its risky approach.
In an interview with Inverse, Fares explained why his new game for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X | S, Xbox One and PC is ” fucked up ”, in addition to some details about its development and how I carry it out under the creative control of Electronic Arts, which edits the title.
”Many developers are a lot more screwed up than they think. Fucking is a good thing! My role is to push everyone to shit. It Takes Two is a fucked up game, in a good way. This is how you create a game full of passion, love, creativity and crazy ideas.. ”, explains Josef Fares.
It Takes Two is a game with a friendly aesthetic, which might even seem like a Disney or Pixar work, but inside it hides a plot full of adult details (such as the relationship between its protagonists) and its playable proposal is complex, since it is completely focused on the cooperative mode for 2 players.
”It Takes Two not your typical cooperative game; it is written and designed from the ground up as cooperative and that is very rare. There are so many creative things that we have not yet been able to explore. Not only creating unique abilities for players, but also at the story level, we can create unique and strong characters that can screw your mind both in and out of the game. There is so much to do here and we are only scratching the surface. I’m quite surprised that we haven’t seen more studios doing this”
Josef Fares uses the term ” screwed up ”, but to somehow praise its difficulty, creativity and identity stamp for the industry; It is not an ordinary project, and we are sure that it has not been easy to carry out a game as groundbreaking as It Takes Two.
It Takes Two is now available on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X | S, Xbox One and PC, and you can always read our review to decide to buy it. Yes indeed, call a second player, because you will need it to enjoy the experience.
