CD Projekt is in a moment of reconsideration of the Cyberpunk 2077 multiplayer, or so they have confirmed in a new video of their strategy as a studio. As part of a broader movement towards a closer approach “agile“In its development, the company is changing its approach to bring online elements to all its games”what makes sense“.
In fact, the exact nature of the Cyberpunk 2077 multiplayer has never been exactly given, but expected as something big like GTA Online. In the November investor call, transcribed by Seeking Alpha, the CDPR CEO Adam Kiciński described it as “a dedicated and separate production” that the developers considered as a standalone product“.
“From our perspective, it is an independent production like the team that works on it“, but now however it seems that those plans are no longer as such. After talking about how development plans in CD Projekt have moved on, Kiciński said the studio has decided to take a different approach to multiplayer, and not only in Cyberpunk.
“We previously hinted that our new AAA would be a Cyberpunk multiplayer, but we’ve reconsidered.“it says in the video.”Given our new, more systematic and agile approach, instead of focusing on a great experience and / or online game, we will offer an online system to all our franchises. We will create an online technology that can be integrated into the development of future games“Right now, as is normal, there are few details about it.
Kiciński confirms that GOG Galaxy will play a central role in “grow a global community of players“, emphasizing that this does not mean that CD Projekt change your style in development. “CDPR makes single player games, with story and AAA RPGs, that won’t change“, it confirmed.”What is changing is our online approach and that is why we prepare correctly to implement online elements to our games. We do not exaggerate, nor do we lose our creative DNA, we take firm steps in creating robust online features“.
