To celebrate the 35th anniversary of Super Mario Bros., Nintendo launched in September 2020 Super Mario 3D All Stars for Nintendo Switch, a compilation of three key games in the character’s history. However, this launch will be exceptional, because will only be available for a limited time. Time is running out: a as of March 31, will no longer be sold in physical or digital format.
This limitation of availability, forced as it may be, has had an obvious effect on the game’s sales during its last days. In the week between March 21 and 27, in the United Kingdom, sales of Super Mario 3D All Stars have increased by 276% with respect to those of the previous week. Thus, it went from being in position 9 to being in position 2.
It was a week dominated almost entirely by Nintendo. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Spider-Man Miles Morales, Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War or GTA V, regulars on the list every week, disappeared. Only FIFA 21 remained on PS4, the rest of the games in the top 10 are from Nintendo Switch (95% of the sales of Mincecraft Dungeons, in position 5, belong to the version of Switch).

Monster hunter rise It was the star, the best release of the week (it came out on March 26). His sales were 43% smaller than Monster Hunter World initials in 2018, although you have to keep in mind that World was multiplatform, and Rise is exclusive to Switch. In fact, Rise’s initial sales are more than double those of Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate in 2015, the previous great Monster Hunter exclusive to a Nintendo console.
Monster Hunter Rise has already distributed 4 million copies and equals the premiere of Animal Crossing in Japan
The rest of the list is not surprising: Animal Crossing New Horizons is still selling wonderfully just after its first year (it sold 11% more than last week), while Super Mario stars in half of the top games– In addition to All Stars, there are Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Luigi’s Mansion 3, and Super Mario Odyssey.
