That BioWare and Electronic Arts were working on Mass Effect Legendary Edition, a remastering of Mass Effect It was one of those secrets that, after you ask, practically everyone already knew. And this is not something new, actually we already told you about it a little over half a year ago. Some rumors that have been happening practically since BioWare confirmed, two years ago, that the saga was still alive, despite the huge fiasco that Mass Effect Andromeda caused.
For those who did not live it, or those who had preferred to forget it so as not to stay with Mass Effect Andromeda as the last memory of the saga, let us remember that it had problems of all kinds: gameplay, performance, optimization … a catastrophe after five years of project (which, later, we learned that much of the work had to be dispensed with due to the limitations of the graphics engine used), which led EA and BioWare to give the franchise a break. A break that would end with Mass Effect Legendary Edition.
It was unfair, however, that a saga that had shone with its own light in all its previous installments, was doomed to such a sad end and is the reason why shortly after, BioWare confirmed that Mass Effect was still alive, a statement by intentions that have been sustained based on rumors … until today. And it is that, finally, and on his official blog, BioWare has confirmed that Mass Effect Legendary Edition, remastering of the first three titles, will hit the market in 2021.
The announcement states that The remastering is coming to PC and consoles (without specifying which ones) and, although it only points to 2021, in the last presentation of results Electronic Arts confirmed that it had planned the launch of the remastering of a classic (not defined) before starting its fiscal year 2021. What it means this? Well, except for surprises, Mass Effect Legendary Edition should hit the market no later than Marchas EA’s fiscal year begins in April.
As expected, Mass Effect Legendary Edition will include Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3, originally launched between 2007 and 2012. Remember that Mass Effect was, at the time, an Xbox 360 exclusive, although some time later it made the leap to PlayStation and PC, opening the way for its successors. Therefore, and except for some surprise that would be the most strange, everything indicates that Mass Effect Legendary Edition will be available for PC, PlayStation and Xbox. Now, for which generation of both? Common sense says that for both, that is, PS4 / PS5 and Xbox One / Xbox Series. But this is just a theory.
«For many months now, our BioWare team has been working hard to update the textures, shaders, models, effects, and technical features of three huge games. Our goal was not to remake or reinvent the original games, but to modernize the experience so that fans and new players can experience the original work in its best possible way.»We can read on the BioWare blog, and it is good news to know that the original experience is preserved in its entirety in the Mass Effect Legendary Trilogy, only with higher resolutions and a framerate higher.
