Is Cyberpunk 2077 the most anticipated game of the year? Depending on who you ask, the answer will range from “may be” to a guttural sound, accompanied by noisy movements. A joy that quickly fades when we start talking about delays that has been adding over time. So much so that, even with a date on the table, the information about the pressure that the developer is transferring to its programmers invite us to think about a new delay, and that finally its launch will end up being delayed until 2021.
The good news in this regard, although it is not recommended to take it as a definitive confirmation, is that today we know from DSOG that CD Projekt has given a surprise by announcing that Cyberpunk 2077 is coming to Stadia at the same time as the rest of the platforms: “We are thrilled to announce that Cyberpunk 2077 will be available on Stadia on November 19. Cyberpunk 2077 on Stadia will allow players to play on their favorite screens and will not have to wait for it to download or install to enter and explore the depths of Night City”.
Thus, at a stroke, we know that The developer maintains, for the moment, the scheduled date and of which we doubted (not without reason), and that also Stadia users will not have to wait compared to the rest of the platforms to start playing it. In addition, as the company has also reported, people who purchase it through the platform will get some exclusive items such as an artbook, the digital edition of the comic Cyberpunk 2077: Your Voice and various wallpapers for desktop and mobile devices.
The high technical requirements that the title will have, make the Stadia option very interesting for all those players who do not have a computer that suits their requirements, as well as those who want to play it on multiple devices. However, there is one aspect that we must not lose sight of when considering the game in stream, and that is that today it is not at all clear what Stadia will offer when we play Cyberpunk 2077.
And it’s not a minor question, actually. Although in the end, the most important thing in a game is always its plot and its playability, it is undoubtedly CD Projekt has placed a lot of importance on the graphic section, and a good example of this is how it exploits, perhaps better than any other title so far, ray tracing. A power that is even clearer if we see the first video of Cyberpunk 2077 running on a GeForce RTX 30.
I have serious doubts if Stadia will be able to deliver the game in a high graphics mode, taking advantage of ray tracing, and with a resolution and framerate at the level of what many players expect from this title. Mind you, I’m not saying it won’t be like that, but I’m not particularly optimistic about it. Thus, if you are one of the people who await the arrival of Cyberpunk 2077 and want to enjoy it to the fullest, but your computer does not meet the requirements of the game, you can always consult the specifications for each graphic mode, as well as suggestions about the PC that you could acquire for this purpose.
