If you want Quake 2 free you can already get it by downloading and installing the Bethesda Gaming PC Launcher and creating an account for the service. If you already have it installed, you just have to add it to your library.
Quake 2 (Quake II) is a first person shooter video game developed by id Software and distributed by Activision. A Quake sequel that came with an updated graphics engine to offer hardware acceleration and native support for OpenGL.
For my taste much better than the original, it changed the setting from medieval to science fiction and together with the improvements of the graphics engine it got a round game. If the single player campaign was great, which really lengthened the longevity of the game (still playing) it was his multiplayer mode, cooperative games of up to 4 people over the Internet and up to 16 players in Deathmatch games.
The final game update added eight maps (arenas) for multiplayer deathmatch and included a new game mode called “Capture the Flag.” Another aspect for which it gained great popularity was its ability to modify (mods) in rules and styles, which allowed to completely renew the gaming experience.
In short, a game that cannot be missing from any computer because despite the years that have passed since its launch it still offers great fun. The free Quake 2 is part of the promotion launched by Bethesda at the QuakeCon conference, including a far-exceeded charitable giving program and free delivery of the original Quake we’ve already offered you.
If you want Quake 2 for free, you can now get it from the Bethesda game launcher. Do not delay because you only have to do it 72 hours from 12 p.m. ET on Wednesday.
Quake III will be available for free next week, a different title that did not follow the line of the first two in the series since it focused exclusively on a simply beastly multiplayer mode of maps (arenas). When it is available from August 17 we will announce it.
