After the harsh criticism and satires after the presentation of the first official gameplay of Halo Infinite, it seems that Microsoft has decided to delay one of its main deliveries and the first big exclusive of Xbox Series X, which will not be ready in time for the launch of the console in November. And it is that as 343 Industries has revealed in its latest official statement, Halo Infinite will be delayed until 2021.
However, as we can read in this message, the current situation derived from the global pandemic would be one of the main reasons for the delay: “We have made the difficult decision to shift our release to 2021 to ensure the team has enough time to deliver a Halo gaming experience that meets our vision” stated Chris Lee, director of 343 Industries Studio, “The decision to change our launch is the result of multiple factors that have contributed to the development challenges, including the ongoing COVID-related impacts that affect us this year.”.

Interestingly, it is an action that already in May Phil Spencer himself foresaw, who warned that «the biggest unknown is probably the game’s production […] game production is a large-scale entertainment activity now, you have hundreds of people joining, building assets, working through creativity«.
With Halo Infinite delayed, Xbox fans will have to settle for other advance exclusives like The Medium, as well as other cross-platform titles like Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Destiny 2, or the 100+ titles optimized for Xbox Series X, with HDR adaptations. of their previous generations.
Unfortunately, Halo Infinite is far from being the only title affected due to the fact that its developers have to be working from home. Bungie, former developer of the Halo series, recently announced the delay of its upcoming Beyond Light expansion for Destiny 2 for the same reasons; although perhaps even more famous were the delays of The Last of Us 2 and the still recurring date changes of Cyberpunk 2077, among others.
