ASUS has announced the launch of the VivoBook Flip 14, a light convertible that reaches the market with a contained price and with prominence for the internal AMD hardware it uses.
That AMD is playing its cards very well since the launch of the ZEN architecture is no longer news. The company has achieved the largest market share in x86 processors since 2013 and aims to reach 50% in 2021. If desktop CPUs are selling strongly in retail, the share in notebooks reaches a historic 20% and here it is powered by oem, a segment where Intel has devastated the last decade.
Another sign of manufacturers’ approach to AMD comes to us from ASUS with the VivoBook Flip 14. A very interesting device for users looking for a mid-range convertible, versatile for various modes of use and with high mobility at a price that seems content for what it offers.
It has a screen 14-inch multi-touch IPS with FHD resolution. ASUS says it is one of the most compact convertibles on the market with a footprint of standard 13-inch equipment. It offers 178 degrees of viewing angle, is capable of reproducing 100% of the sRGB color gamut, and supports the ASUS Pen stylus that comes with a bracket to attach to the computer.
It has a metal hinge that allows you to rotate the screen up to 360 degrees to place it on the keyboard and go from laptop to tablet mode or other types of use (tent tent for entertainment or presentations) of equipment with this design. Its chassis is completely metal with a thickness of 17.5 mm and a weight of 1.3 kg. Nothing bad for a convertible.
Inside are the new Ryzen Mobile 4000, low-voltage ‘U’ series accelerated processing units, which feature Radeon integrated graphics and limit their TDP consumption to 15 watts. You can select between Ryzen 5 and Ryzen 7 8-core and is accompanied by 8 Gbytes of RAM and SSD with a minimum of 256 Gbytes for storage.
