Already at the beginning of this year, we were able to see the first announcement and collaboration between THX and TCL, which predicted the arrival of a certified game mode for the company’s next televisions. So now they have finally become known new details on the TCL Series 6 and what the integration of this technology will mean.
As a result, according to the latest statement released by TCL, the combination of TCL’s ‘superior images’ and THX’s ‘world-class’ technology will make gaming even more immersive. And is that video games tend to be brighter and more saturated than movies, so the image and color settings must be fully focused on this use, in the same way that we already see with the settings for sports or movies.
To do this, TCL and THX engineers collaborated to create this “THX Certified Game Mode”, with special adjustments for the white balance, luminance, black levels and gamma of the device, vibration reduction or fast “refresh times” between transitions from dark to light, and others essential settings like low latency, which will guarantee that the image and drivers are synchronized.
In addition, the new TCL 6-Series televisions will feature a smart upgrade that will apply these special settings automatically when any compatible console or computer is detected.
So the next generation of televisions is expected be available this summer, although at the moment no details have been advanced on its starting price.
THX certificates, the new Pro-gamer standard
On the other hand, it should be remembered that this is not the first time that we see THX trying to make a name for itself in the gaming scene, with previous partnerships with Razer and some resulting products such as the Kraken Tournament Edition headphones or the recently announced BlackShark V2, certified with their technology THX Spatial Audio.
If the upcoming consoles pair well with these televisions, then the certified game mode could become quite a label to consider, especially in the face of the imminent arrival of the new generation of consoles. PS5 and Xbox Series X, and the great leap that they propose in the gaming scene.
