Xiaomi has just introduced a new pair of True Wireless earphones, the Redmi AirDots 2, which despite being the clear successors of the AirDots launched in the middle of last year, at first glance they share much more similarities with the AirDots S launched just a few months ago.
We find ourselves with a headset with a small oval touch surface, offering an ergonomic design as well as light, reducing its size and weight to just 4.1 grams for each earphone. Although luckily, the inclusion of silicone pads for the output of the speakers will allow us to choose between three final sizes (small, medium and large).
In this way, Xiaomi maintains both current aesthetic lines, adding these new headphones to the recent launches of the Xiaomi Mi True Wireless Earphones 2 Basic, more similar to the design of Apple.
In addition, their small size does not prevent Redmi AirDots 2 from equipping 7.2mm audio drivers able to offer «powerful low-frequency output, as well as smooth, delicate high-frequency and mid-frequency sound«. A quality backed by an internal microphone supported by a technology of «Reduction of environmental noise» own, with which Xiaomi promises to minimize background noise when a user is using the headphones in a call.
Although without a doubt one of the biggest updates of the Redmi AirDots 2 will reside in new compatibility with Bluetooth 5.0 wireless system, which will allow a faster connection for use, as well as better optimization and stability during connection. And is that as the company has already confirmed, the new headphones will offer up to four hours of autonomy under continuous playback, plus an additional 12 hours of battery life through the carrying case.
Limited to a first launch and availability in China, we can currently find Redmi AirDots 2 on the company’s crowdfunding platform for the staggering price of just 99 yuan (approximately 12 euros), although according to the portal GizmoChina, once the crowdfunding campaign is finished the headphones they will keep this same price for all other buyers.
At the moment it is not known when the Redmi AirDots 2 will be available in countries outside of China, although with such competitive prices, we are certainly looking forward to seeing them soon.
