We have been talking about the Google Pixel 4a for a long time, a terminal that has been leaked so many times that even we have been able to see real units and fully functional in videos that left nothing to the imagination, but today we have had a major surprise, since a list published by 9to5Google suggests that said smartphone will come in two versions.
No, we are not talking about the Google Pixel 4a and the Google Pixel 4a XL, but two versions of the first, a cheaper one that would be based on the Snapdragon 730G SoC and that it will be limited to 4G networks, and another superior that will use a Snapdragon 765G SoC, and that it will be compatible with 5G networks. The truth is that it makes sense, but at the same time it is surprising.
As our regular readers will remember at the time we saw rumors that Google could use the Snapdragon 765G on the Pixel 5 to avoid the high price of the Snapdragon 865 SoC, something that certainly it made no sense, since the sacrifice that would imply in terms of performance would be so great that it would be equivalent to taking two steps back. Yes, to go back almost two generations, since it would yield less than the Pixel 3.
Those rumors may have been poorly focused, and that actually referred to this version of the Google Pixel 4a. In any case, the important thing is that it would be a successful move by Google. Users with a tighter budget could opt for the 4G model, which in theory will have an approximate price of $ 299, and those who want to enjoy higher performance and access the 5G standard will be able to go for the superior model, whose price It has not been revealed, although my intuition tells me that it should be around $ 399.
I remind you that we continue without clear information that confirms, or denies, the cancellation of the Google Pixel 4a XL and Google Pixel 5 XL, so for now both terminals remain as “possible”.
