IFA (Internationale Funkausstellung Berlin) is one of the most important industrial and technological fairs in the world, and always a prominent event on the technology calendar. This year, its 2020 edition had as its date of celebration from September 4 to 9 at the Messe Berlin venue, but the current situation of a pandemic that we are living has ruined those plans, although not entirely.
According to those responsible, after the decision of the Berlin government to ban all events with more than 5,000 participants until October 24, 2020, the IFA will not be able to go ahead “as usual” and therefore has canceled its physical event, reason for which it will be held according to its managers under “a new innovative concept”.
The IFA organizers anticipated this development and for several weeks have been discussing “a series of alternative concepts”. Planning seems to be well advanced for a concept that will allow IFA to fulfill its main functions “as a global showcase for technological innovation and as an important meeting place for brands, manufacturers, retailers and the media”.
